The climate emergency in corporate culture
Is the climate emergency driving change in corporate culture, or have we got our blinkers on?
Doing business is no longer just about ‘doing things right’ but also about ‘doing the right things’!
Understanding the wider context within which organisations operate is now a pre-requisite. As leaders, we cannot ignore the fact that a CLIMATE EMERGENCY has been declared. Whilst technology will have a major role to play in helping drive the UK and other countries towards their net zero carbon targets, the change needs to come from within. Societal and behavioural change is essential.
As you dust off your last ‘strategic plan’ and prepare for it’s next iteration, ask yourself how prepared your organisation is to respond to the climate threats and business opportunities facing the global economy over the coming years.
A good start point is the United Nation’s 17 ‘Sustainable Development Goals’. The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.
